A Sotra company passenger vehicle as it was found shortly after the accident
At least six people have died in a car accident that involved two commuter buses, property of Sotra Tours and Gaagaa Coach, about 11:30am this Friday 03/05/2013 in Huye District Southern Province of Rwanda.
The report identified the deceased as five Rwandans and one Ugandan lady who according to the sources was expectant. Authorities claimed that all the deceased were on the Sotra Tours commuter bus and the Ugandan lady is said to have been expectant.
Police said two other passengers who had also boarded Sotra Tour bus are said to be in critical condition while 19 others are sustaining injuries at Butare University Hospital
The accident occurred in the morning hours when a passenger bus belonging to Sotra Tours coming from Rusizi District crashed with another Bus namely Gaga Coach heading to Kigali from the Neighbouring Burundi.
Most travellers on Sotra Tours were Rwandan businessmen as they are said to be found with Rwandan Identity card INDANGAMUNTU each and were in possession of huge sums of Rwanda Francs
There was no death or injury reported from boarders of Gaagaa Coach
Witnesses who saw Gaaga Coach bus in motion claim to have seen it in a high speed soon before the accident.
Rwanda traffic police are conducting a thorough investigation on what could have caused or contributed to the accident, and the authority calls upon everyone to mind the safety use of the road in order to avoid more road accidents resulting to deaths and injuries.
