The executive secretary of Murambi sector in karongi, Thomas Niyihaba has requested for the construction of the murram road that joins Kirinda and Nyanza in Butare to preserve history.
Apart from this road joining Karongi and Nyanza districts via Kirinda in Shyembe cell, Niyihaba says it is important since it holds historical significance.
This was revealed while welcoming different visitors to the closing event of 1994 Tutsi genocide commemoration week that was held in Murambi sector at district level.
Deputy Ezechias Rwabuhihi from Karongi who was among the guests, assured the Murambi sector authorities that Kirinda road will be constructed because it’s a historical road.
“Kirinda road was international and passable during colonial era connecting Rwanda to Zaire (RDC),” he highlights.
Deputy Rwabuhihi assured them because he grew up and studied in this place before leaving Rwanda due to war in 1959.
In a similar case, Rwabihihi gives an example of the road that joins Karongi, Nyamasheke and Rusizi districts that is being constructed. This road as well connects Rwanda to Congo through the above three districts.
