Rwanda : Passengers decry delay by express buses plying the Eastern Province

Passengers traveling to the Eastern Province of Rwanda have raised concern over travel and tour companies for not being punctual.

Gisagara Robert, a frequent traveller to the Eastern Route says that express transport buses on this route are not punctual and they make many stop over’s soliciting for passengers without.

“They have no specific program although they claim that they are punctual. They depart late and stop anywhere along the route soliciting for more passengers just like usual traditional minibuses,” said Gisagara.

He says that these irregularities cause losses to business people travelling in these buses and calls upon the owners of these companies to look into the matter.

Another regular traveler Francois Habimana noted that Express transport companies continuously issue tickets to passengers more than the seats available on the bus.

This leads to every ticketed passenger to compete for seats in the bus resulting into chaos and at times over loading.

Sometimes passengers are forced wait for the next bus something that the customers find to be very inconveniencing.

Habimana added that the delays pressurise the drivers to over speed in order to beat the time wasted.

Major Express transport companies that serve the Eastern Province route include; Belvedere Lines, Stella Express, SOTRA Express, Matunda Express, International and Excel Express.
